The Face Behind Thriving With Therapy

Hey, I'm Sara (she/her)

I am a relational trauma therapist and the founder of Thriving with Therapy, where I support individuals in navigating life’s complexities. Over the past decade, I have dedicated myself to educating and guiding those affected by trauma, helping them heal and grow. My Professional Experience:

For over a decade, I have dedicated my career to addressing interpersonal violence, taking on various roles in community advocacy, prevention, education, and direct support for survivors. Promoting gender equity is a core part of my identity, and I’ve always felt a deep passion for working with women, which led me to positions at NC State’s Women’s Center and Meredith College.

In my mid-twenties, I recognized that I wasn’t fully satisfied with my career, so I made a bold decision to return to graduate school and pursue my newly discovered dream of becoming a therapist. After earning my LCSWA, I provided short-term, solution-focused therapy and crisis intervention through an Employee Assistance Program. I also worked part-time at a group practice offering individual therapy until 2020, when I transitioned to a full-time role.

Since then, I’ve focused on staying up-to-date with the most effective therapeutic techniques for trauma treatment. In 2022, I became trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. I take continuous professional growth seriously, participating in monthly group and individual consultations as part of my EMDR certification process. Additionally, I consult with trans/queer providers to ensure I am offering the most affirming care possible. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply committed to understanding the impacts of trauma on both the mind and body, and my passion for helping others continues to drive me forward.

The Fun Stuff

I'm a northern transplant born and raised in Connecticut. My toxic trait is getting distracted by client's pets mid session. My claim to fame: client's say my waiting room playlist has no-skips. I was a first-generation college student and student athlete (softball pitcher). I liked the color pink and Taylor Swift before they were cool. When I'm not in the office you can find me lifting weights, baking, fostering dogs, listening to pop culture podcasts, watching Bravo, watering my plants or loving on my three rescue beagles. Oh, and of course you can catch me in my own therapist's office!
