Who May Benefit From Working With Sara

What Can I Expect Working With Sara?
Strengths Based, Person Centered
My approach to treating anxiety and trauma is strength-based and aims to avoid pathologizing. I focus on our shared humanity rather than solely on your diagnosis. Together, we will identify the skills you already possess and develop new tools to manage your symptoms. Clients often describe me as compassionate, collaborative, and relatable. I believe you are the expert in your own lived experience, and I tailor my work to honor your unique needs and identities. I understand that each person’s experience is shaped by a range of intersecting identities, which is why I create a trauma-informed, anti-racist, pro-reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ affirming, and fat-positive space for healing and growth.
Evidence Based Treatment
We all have an inherent ability to heal ourselves. Thanks to neuroplasticity—the brain's capacity to grow and change—we can rewire an anxious or traumatized brain. I empower my clients by sharing my knowledge of anxiety and trauma, helping them understand what's happening in both their mind and body. Research in the treatment of anxiety and C/PTSD shows that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, which is why I’ve trained in the most current, evidence-based therapies for trauma and anxiety. I draw from a variety of approaches, including Somatic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the Flash Technique. If all of this feels overwhelming or you're unsure which method is best for you, don't worry! The most important factor in therapeutic success is the strength of the connection we build together.
Expertise in Complex Trauma
Ease and Accessibility
Complex trauma arises from prolonged, repeated exposure to traumatic events, often leading to feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. When this trauma occurs in childhood, it is referred to as relational or developmental trauma. Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) differs from PTSD in that it includes additional symptoms such as emotional dysregulation, disturbances in self-organization, and difficulties in relationships, along with the typical PTSD symptoms. For individuals experiencing CPTSD, it is essential to seek support from someone who understands the complexities of the condition and is well-versed in effective treatment methods to help alleviate its symptoms.
I strongly believe that therapy should be accessible to everyone, which is why I offer flexible evening and weekend appointments, both in person and virtually. I am in-network with most major insurance providers and can also provide a superbill for clients with out-of-network insurance. While I don't currently have availability for sliding scale clients, I'm happy to help connect you with providers who offer this option.
