About the Course
The Anxious Girlies Book Club:
Calling anxious girlies ages 21+. Our group offers 75 minutes of combined bibliotherapy and skill-building. "The Imposter Cure" by Dr. Jessamy Hibberd is a powerful book that explores the pervasive feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy that many individuals experience, often referred to as impostor syndrome. Through a blend of personal anecdotes, psychological insights, and practical exercises, Hibberd offers readers tools to recognize and combat these feelings. The book encourages a shift in mindset, helping individuals embrace their achievements and build confidence in their abilities, ultimately guiding them toward a more authentic and fulfilling life. At the end of the meetings, participants will be introduced to a specific tool or skill to help them manage anxiety. This group is not a substitute for psychotherapy and does not initiate a therapeutic relationship. It is highly suggested for participants to already be engaged in indivudal therapy.
Is this group for me?
Are you a woman between the ages of 20 and 40? Would you like to create new social connections but feel hindered by anxiety? Do you struggle with negative self-talk and poor self-confidence? Â Do you enjoy reading or listening to audio books? Would you be willing to step outside your comfort zone and try something new? Participants must be 21 years or older and live in North Carolina. Group members agree to attend at least 7 of the 8 group meetings. I provide a trauma-informed, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, fat-positive, and pro-reproductive freedom space where all participants are expected to be respectful.
Past Participants Describe the Group:
"Finding constructive community with women who have similar experiences."
"I feel this group was the perfect way to both learn new skills and practice those skills in real time. It was a great way to connect with others who have similar struggles. Sara did a great job, and I look forward to any future groups for anxiety!"
"The opportunity to connect with like-minded women struggling with similar issues was empowering and a needed reminder that I am not alone. Interacting with new people is anxiety-inducing but having the book as guide for conversation topics was incredibly helpful and made the group way less intimidating. It was refreshing to have such important and meaningful conversations with women who feel just as deeply as I do."
